The Galloway School is seeking a Lead Aftercare Worker to join our team beginning August 2025.
Aftercare Workers are responsible for assisting with the school dismissal process at the end of the school day and providing supervision and care to our students after school hours from 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm.
As the Lead Aftercare Worker, this position is responsible for the overall implementation and daily operation of the after-school program. Key responsibilities include managing student behavior and documenting incidents, tracking attendance and coordinating with the Business Manager for billing, overseeing student health and medical needs, conducting inventory and placing orders for snacks and supplies, and managing the student schedule and the rotation schedule for aftercare employees. This role ensures the program runs efficiently, safely, and in alignment with school policies and the needs of students and staff.
We seek candidates who are kind, patient, and compassionate in their work with children who will create a nurturing and supportive learning environment for our students in our Aftercare program.
This is an hourly, part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday during the school year. Compensation range starts at $14.50 - $15.50 per hour depending on experience.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, be at least 18 years of age, have childcare experience and someone who enjoys working with and teaching children. Preferred experience includes those candidates with early childhood education, teaching and classroom experience and those with CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the overall implementation and daily operations of the Aftercare program
- Provide after-school care for students ages 2 through 5th grade, from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM
- Assist with the school’s daily dismissal process, ensuring student safety and smooth transitions
- Offer academic support and homework help tailored to student needs
- Serve snacks provided by the school in a safe and organized manner
- Plan and supervise outdoor play and recreational activities
- Design and lead age-appropriate games, arts, and crafts projects
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate with parents regarding behavior, progress, and any concerns
- Track daily attendance and manage billing records using Excel; collaborating with the Business Manager for invoicing
- Monitor and manage allergies and medical needs of all students in the program
- Follow and implement the student schedule as created by school administration
- Develop and communicate the rotation schedule for Aftercare staff
- Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
- Apply positive behavior support strategies to encourage good conduct and emotional growth
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate consistent enthusiasm, energy, initiative, and a willingness to engage in self-reflection and professional growth
- Motivate and engage students in a nurturing and inclusive setting
Qualifications:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- A High School Diploma
- Childcare experience
- Ability to be adaptable to meet the individual needs of each child
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A belief in the Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment preferred
- Successful completion of background checks and verification
